Summary

This tool is a short semi-quantitative paper based food frequency questionnaire, and was developed to rank individuals from the Million Women Study into categories according to intakes of foods and nutrients. Addtionally, the tool was developed to capture the main sources of dietary variability amongst 50 to 60 year-old UK women. The tool consists of 18 questions on the types and frequency of consumption of specific foods during a typical week. This tool has been validated once in a female population in 2004.

Special Considerations

The short food group questionnaire was part of a larger questionnaire used in the Million Women Survey which included an additional 43 questions on health, family history, medications and lifestyle. Data analysis was conducted using an in-house programme. This questionnaire is no longer available.
